The Doors are Open and It’s Time for a Party!

I’ve been talking about this day for so long, and it’s finally here!

The Launch Team for She Deserves Better launches--for lack of a better word–today!

We’re so excited to have anyone who has preordered She Deserves Better join us for a whole lot of behind-the-scenes fun!

And don’t worry–“launch team” isn’t a scary thing. It’s actually prety fun!

I know it SOUNDS like it’s work. But:

What if I told you that the “work” was really only about writing a great review on Amazon/Goodreads?

And sharing some social media graphics and telling friends, if you want.

But that last part’s totally up to you.

That’s not so scary now anymore, right?

And what if I told you that we want to give you some goodies, too?

Rebecca and I will be doing exclusive Facebook Lives for our Launch Team every week between now and the April 18 official launch for She Deserves Better! And Joanna will join us for some of them too. We’ll have some Q&A “Have lunch with Sheila”s where I’ll hang out eating my lunch, and you can drop by and just chat! And Rebecca will likely jump in too.

And the first 200 people to  write a review for She Deserves Better get a FREE additional paperback of the book (or some other goodie if you’re outside of North America).

And what if I told you that if you join the launch team, you’ll get your copy of She Deserves Better right away, instead of having to wait until April 18?

Seriously, if you’re going to order the book, or books, anyway, this is a no brainer!

Pre-order She Deserves Better, and then send us your receipt. And you’ll get an invite to our launch team and get an electronic copy you can read ahead of time! Plus you’ll have a bunch of exclusive time to talk to me and Rebecca, ask your questions, and just hang out with other people who want to change the conversation about sex in the evangelical world, too, and make a better church for our kids.

She Deserves Better!

Launches April 18!

Your daughter deserves better than what you likely grew up with in church.

What would it look like to prepare the next generation without toxic teachings about modesty, sex, or consent, and instead set her up for a big faith?

Pre-Order Now! (Helps us out a ton)

And if you email your receipt, you’ll get special pre-order BONUSES

And that’s not all–

No, you won’t get a set of kitchen knives or a lifetime supply of Rice-A-Roni, the San Francisco treat.

But we do have a bonus that isn’t even in the books!

1. You’ll get our Modesty Dress Code Hand-Out

Based on our findings on the long-term effects of four different modesty messages we measured, we created a four page handout you can give to your youth pastor, women’s ministry leader, Christian camp director, school principal, or anyone else setting up dress codes or modesty rules for girls.

It goes into the effects of the common messages, and gives an alternative way to talk about dress codes that doesn’t shame, doesn’t sexualize, and doesn’t make girls responsible for boys’ and men’s thoughts and actions.

When you forward us your pre-order receipt, the modesty hand-out will be one of the perks you’ll get!

2. You’ll get our Deconstruction Report

Here’s a ton of extra information that didn’t make it into She Deserves Better because we didn’t have enough room: Who are the kinds of people who are re-examining their faith and changing their beliefs about these toxic things? Are they simply people who want to sin more? Who are deconstructing because it’s “sexy” (as Matt Chandler said?).

We looked at differences between those whose faith has shifted and those whose faith hasn’t, and we found some really interesting findings. We can map the route to deconstruction, and it’s fascinating.

This hand-out is chock full of extra data from our survey that you won’t find anywhere else–and you’ll get it just by pre-ordering She Deserves Better early–and then forwarding me your receipt!

Modesty Handout She Deserves Better

Think of She Deserves Better as your mine-clearing manual for your raising your daughter.

So many people read The Great Sex Rescue and found it validating. They found it freeing. They finally began to heal!

But there was still a big problem: They know had absolutely no idea what to say to their daughters. How do you raise your daughter to not be sucked into the toxic messages that you heard growing up, and that are still so prevalent in the church?

How can you raise her with a healthy view of sexuality, rather than a shame-based one?

How can you raise her to be confident in herself, rather than thinking she needs a boy to complete her?

How can you raise her to recognize red flags in potential dating partners, in friends, even in churches?

How can you raise her to have a big faith, when all too often the church wants to keep her small?

Finally, a book I can recommend to parents who want better re- sources to talk about sexuality with their daughters! Sheila, Re- becca, and Joanna are an all-star team, confronting the harm done to our daughters in both the church and the world. The title says it all. Our daughters deserve better! Full stop. This book is full of thorough research, refreshingly commonsense biblical wisdom, and practical help on how to talk with our daughters and prepare them for confidence and maturity.

And pre-ordering is a no-brainer…because:

When you pre-order, you’re guaranteed the lowest price. At Amazon, they lower the price the more people buy the book. And you pay the lowest price between now and launch! So by pre-ordering, you’re helping to lower the price AND you’re guaranteed the lowest price there is!

As a psychologist, I am confident in this book’s sound research, evidenced-based teachings, and emotionally healthy advice. And as a mother of a girl, I am looking forward to reading this with my daughter to create new teachings for her as I reconstruct them myself.

For too long, we have allowed our daughters to bear the burden of bad theology about what it means to be female. Well, no lon- ger! Sheila, Rebecca, and Joanna provide a practical, candid, and theologically astute guide for mothers and daughters that exposes harmful teachings circulating in churches today and helps women rediscover their truest selves as ones loved and cherished by God.

Seriously, I’d love to have you pre-order, and we would LOVE to have as many of you as possible join our Launch Team!

We’ve made a real dent in the conversation about sex in the evangelical church over the last two years since The Great Sex Rescue was published. Counselors are listening. Pastors are listening. And couple’s lives are being changed.

But wouldn’t it be nice if the next generation never needed The Great Sex Rescue?

Real change will come by stopping these toxic messages in their tracks. By teaching our children how to recognize them–and rejecting them.

And by allowing ourselves to confront what we were taught, too, and how that affected us. To let ourselves mourn–so that we can do better for our daughters.

When you pre-order it, you help us so much. And if you're going to order it anyway, then join the launch team, too, and get your hands on it early!

Did you know that pre-ordering really helps the authors?

I’m going to be honest. So much of the success of new books depends on how it does straight out of the gate. When books have “buzz”, then more news stories will cover it. Amazon orders more copies. The rankings go up, and that encourages other bookstores to order it.

And so on, and so on.

And when online retailers see there’s a demand, they stock up so they don’t run out once the book launches (there’s nothing worse than a ton of press right at launch–and for Amazon to say they’re sold out).

Books that do well right away tend to keep doing well. So the stronger start we have, the better. And when you pre-order, you start the momentum!

So I hope you join us! We’re doing our first Facebook Live in the group tomorrow, and I’d love to see you there!

To Join the Launch Team:

  1. Just Pre-order the book (on Amazon, direct from Baker Books, or anywhere you’d like!).
  2. Email me the receipt at preorder@sheilawraygregoire.com

You’ll get an invitation to our Facebook Group, a link to read the book early, and our pre-order bonuses!

Perhaps a companion book for boys? 🤔 In collaboration with someone like Andrew Bauman?

I’d love to one day. We just have so much on the go! We’re hoping to raise money through our Patreon to do some more research, and then maybe a guy can write the book!

Will it be available in audio, like ever? (Hard-copy print takes me more than three times as long to read. Kindle is at least a workable solution, but I can’t promise I’d get the whole book read [and emotionally digested] by its release date.) Can I at least suggest it to NLS (National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, a division of the Library of Congress)? [Because some things are terrible for synthetic speech, and even large print isn’t as large as it used to be.]

It sure will! Rebecca and I recorded it already, and I would hope it launches April 18 when the book does!

Every link to send my receipt is answered with a blank page when I click on it. Any suggestions to remedy? Thank you!
