I can’t believe we’re 300 episodes in to Bare Marriage!
We began the podcast in January of 2019, and for the first dozen or so episodes it was just me. We actually started two weeks before that fateful day that I read Love & Respect and changed the entire focus of our ministry, so it’s funny that all of that coincided right at the beginning of the podcast.
We’ve been trying to figure out how to celebrate 300 episodes, and our Patreon supporters have been asking for a while that we do a “Best of Becca” episode, with clips of all her funniest and most pointed comments. They even started a thread on our Facebook page to add the exact time stamps of what they wanted included!
So Connor (Rebecca’s husband and our tech person) created the compilation, and today Rebecca and I react to it. It’s pretty epic.
Also, many people often criticize Rebecca because they don’t like hearing a young woman who is so confident and assertive. But that says more about them than it does about her! And I couldn’t do this without her. She’s usually the one who figures out how to express a thought we’ve had in the clearest way. She comes up with all our funniest lines in books (even books where she’s not the co-author!). And she helps me strategically in a way that no one else could. So I appreciate her, and I hope you enjoy these funny moments looking back!

It’s fun to look back over 300 episodes!
We looked at the top 5 episodes of all time, and talked about which ones that didn’t make that list are still my favourites. We talked about how things have changed since we started the podcast, and where we think we’re going from here.
And then, of course, we had all those funny moments, from the rabbid racoon, the knight who went to Kroger’s, and the puppy killers!
Main Talking Points from Episode 300
- The 6-Year Journey: From “Please Speak Up” to “Shake the Dust”: Our mission has reached shifted from begging people to care about harmful teachings to accepting there’s a split happening in evangelicalism—a modern reformation where some are running after Jesus and health, while others are clinging to power structures
- Evidence-Based Faith: Our major surveys on marriage and sexuality, the importance of using peer-reviewed research instead of personal anecdotes, and why data and Jesus are not polar opposites
- Best of Becca Moments—When Bad Teaching Tells on Itself: The compilation includes iconic moments that expose problematic teachings:
- “Are You Pooping in the Shower?” – When sex advice reveals ignorance about female arousal
- The Rabid Raccoon – Destroying the “boys can’t stop” rhetoric with logic
- “No, You Couldn’t, Gerald” – Calling out unrealistic masculine expectations
- The Kroger Quest – John Piper’s absurd take on women giving directions
- The Emerson Eggerichs Spit-Take – When Authors Tell On Themselves
- The Premiere of the Trailer for the The Marriage You Want 8-Week Video Series: For the first time ever, we’re sharing the trailer for our new course. We love it so much, and hope you will too!

What a great milestone to celebrate! I think that everybody on the site is great. Sheila, Rebecca, Connor, Keith, and all of the others behind the scenes who put everything together. Yes, this is primarily a website by women and for women, but I’ve benefitted a lot from reading it, and I enjoy Keith’s posts as much as all the others. I came hers at first doing research to help a friend overcome a porn addiction (that addiction is long gone, by the way), but stayed because the site is so awesome! The part that helped me the most was the whole “mental load” thing, but all of it is positive.
Thanks for having the site, congratulations on 300, and keep doing what you’re doing!
Thanks so much, Nathan! Always appreciate you (and th other regulars!)
Agreed – Interview with Helen Paynter was great! I also liked the one where Keith critiques the Danvers statement. So many have really been fantastic podcasts and congrats on the milestone :).
“The Knight who made it to Kroger”. I listened to that one a while back and wanted to re-listen but haven’t been able to find it. So glad it was on today’s episode! Laughed out loud the first time I heard it. Hands down my favorite Rebecca moment!
Sheila spilling her tea when watching an E.E. video where he claims it is not possible to tell wether a woman is aroused or not. That is one of my favourites. It may not be the most important moment but it is the most hilarious one.
Congratulations! You guys do great work.
I read this article and thought of you guys:

I think you’d really like it.
Congratulations. I really enjoyed listening to the excerpts. Thank you for reminding all of us that women have a voice, and we don’t have to minimize ourselves to satisfy a man’s fragile ego.
Congratulation. I have been following you for 12 years now. I bought your old book, and I have bought most of your new books. I remember the pivot. I don’t really say much these days, partially because of the backlash for speaking out. Trying to have a rational conversation in the Christian marriage space has been perilous. Thank you for your dedication and courage.
Is transcript to post soon?
I try listen but sadly Becca jokes is misunderstanding by me.
